Payvand Parvizi
D.V.M., M.Sc., Ph.D
Dr. Parvizi earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) from Urmia Azad University in Iran in 1998. His early career was focused on mixed animal practice especially poultry diseases and teaching at a veterinary college. Early in his career, he has developed a passion for deepening his understanding of host immune system as the first line of protection against various diseases.
Dr. Parvizi immigrated to Canada in 2004 to pursue his passion in academia. He was involved in cutting-edge research for a decade in Ontario Veterinary College (OVC). He had published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals and won numerous scientific awards and scholarships for his excellence in research on Immunology and Immunogenetics. Having established a strong foundation on host immune system and pathogen interactions, he passed his licensing exams and completed an internship program at OVC to practice veterinary medicine in Canada and United States.
Dr. Parvizi moved to California in 2014 to pursue his passion of combining his strong knowledge in research and veterinary clinical skills to practice small animal medicine. He is interested in small animal internal medicine and surgery which leads to helping our furry friends live happy lives. He has worked as an associate veterinarian as well as medical director of multiple veterinary hospitals ever since.
In his spare time, Dr. Parvizi likes to read on different topics such as physics, cosmology, astronomy, history, literature, psychology, sociology and linguistics. He also likes to swim and hike. In addition, and most importantly, he loves to spend time with his lovely wife.
