Hospital Policies

In an effort to best accommodate our patients,
Colma Animal Hospital has the following hospital policies set in place:

Appointment Policy

We offer appointments Monday through Friday, 8am-6pm; and Saturday, 9am-6pm. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are also welcome. Drop-off appointments are also available for your convenience. Emergency cases always receive top priority, so although we do our best to accommodate all patients during their scheduled time, there are times when delays occur.

If you have a preferred veterinarian, we recommend that you schedule an appointment with him or her for consistency of care. However, if your preferred doctor is unavailable, all of our veterinarians have access to your pet’s records and can assist you.

If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance, if possible, so we can accommodate another pet and reschedule an appointment for yours.

Pre-Surgical Policy

All surgical patients must be current on vaccinations and must be examined by a Colma Animal Hospital veterinarian within the last six months. Please withhold food from your pet the night before surgery after 8pm. This includes rawhides or toys that can be ingested. Water is acceptable prior to surgery, before you drop your pet off.

We require routine pre-surgical bloodwork to screen for anesthetic risks, which can be performed during an appointment or on the same day of the surgery. You can learn more about our surgical procedures on our Surgery page.

Drop-Off Policy

Colma Animal Hospital offers drop-off appointments for routine examinations, vaccinations, and other medical problems at no additional charge. Give us a call at (650) 756-1753 to ask if this is an option for your pet’s specific needs. You will be required to fill out a General Pet Drop-Off Form prior to dropping off your pet. One of our doctors will examine your pet and call you to discuss their history/examination/treatment plan.

What Others Are Saying

I've been taking my dogs here for over 30 years. I would not take them anywhere else. I've had to put two of my dogs down and they were so compassionate and felt my pain during those difficult times. The staff really cares about your pets and the owners. I can't say enough about Dr. Bhakhri he is the BEST of the BEST!

Cherise

We've been going to Colma Animal Hospital for decades. Love the people, always compassionate and caring. No complaints at all.
